The Chicago Cubs will host the Cleveland Guardians for Game two of their interleague series this Saturday from Wrigley Field on FOX. Chicago took Game one after controlling the entire contest, 10-1. 

Guardians Betting Preview 

Cleveland moved to 39-42 after losing to Chicago. The Guardians never got going in Game one, and they’ll look to avoid a third straight loss here.  The Cleveland offense is scoring 3.85 runs per Game, while batting .229, with a .304 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.78 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Jose Ramirez has collected a hit in eight of the last ten Games, and he leads the Guardians in hits (89), while batting (.296), with 13 homers and 52 RBI. Josh Naylor received the day off on Friday, but he brings a six-Game hit streak into the weekend, and he leads Cleveland in batting (.296) and RBI (58). Josh Bell produced five runs in the KC series, and he’s up to eight home runs and 37 RBI for the season.

Tanner Bibee (4-2, 3.79 ERA, 58 Ks) will get the call for Cleveland. The rookie righty put together a strong outing at home against Milwaukee last weekend, striking out seven in six innings of work, while allowing just one run. Bibee has won three of his last four starts, and he’s only allowed more than three runs in one of his five road outings this season, got back into the win column with a good start in the desert last weekend, striking out six in five innings pitched against the Diamondbacks. Bibee has also impressed in five home spots this season, allowing just one run in four of those contests, while clearing seven strikeouts in three of them.

Cubs Betting Preview

Chicago comes in at 38-42 after defeating Cleveland. The Cubs snapped a four-Game skid with the Game one victory, and they’ll look to double down here Saturday. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per Game, while batting .243, with a .323 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.18 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Nico Hoerner plated a pair of runs in the Game one victory, and he leads the team in batting (.281) and hits (88), with 42 RBI. Dansby Swanson has recorded a hit in eight of the last ten Games, and he’s posting a line of .264/9/35. Christopher Morel homered in the over Cleveland to bring his season total to 13, with 31 RBI.

Marcus Stroman (9-5, 2.47 ERA, 85 Ks) will get the call for Chicago. The ninth-year pitcher suffered his first loss in over a month last week in St. Louis, after all being responsible for six runs in just 3.1 innings pitched. It had to happen eventually, as Stroman had won seven straight starts behind strong charisma and command on the mound, and he comes into a somewhat manageable spot here at home. The Guardians were silenced yesterday, so they could come out swinging here, but Stroman is still worthy of our trust after such a stretch of play.

Cleveland is 38-43 against the spread this season, with a 32-46-3 O/U record. Chicago is 43-37 ATS this year, with a 38-39-3 over/under record.

Chicago struck first with a great display of balance offensively, and they’ve got a good chance of taking a 2-0 series lead with Marcus Stroman set to take the hill. Stroman has truly been one of the best pitchers in baseball, and he’s kept the Cubs afloat with reliability every fifth day. Tanner Bibee has pitched well himself over the past month, but this feels like another spot at Wrigley Stroman will thrive in. The Under could possibly be in play, but let’s back Chicago here for Game two Saturday night.
